Fool-proof Crispy Baked Tofu (Vegan, Gluten-free, Oil-free)

I got a lot of questions on how to make my favorite crispy tofu without having the tofu sticking on the pan or baking tray and without using any oil. It's indeed very simple (just TWO INGREDIENTS!) and requires not much work and most importantly, this method is so simple and the tofu tastes super delicious!


What you need:

Baking paper
Baking tray
Oven

Ingredients:

1-2 Tbsp coconut amino (depends on how much seasoning you like, sometimes I just bake the tofu without any seasoning and they taste good enough to me)
1 block of firm tofu (around 400g)


Directions:


  1. Preheat oven to 200 degree Celsius.
  2. Drain the tofu. Cut them into slices of around 1cm thick. Place them between two layers of kitchen towel or kitchen paper for around 15-30 minutes. Place a slightly heavy object such as a large bowl to press most of the water out of the tofu.
  3. Gently brush your choice of seasonings on both sides of the tofu slices. I love using coconut amino, but you can also use soy sauce (if you are not gluten intolerance), liquid amino, smoked paprika, barbecue sauce or teriyaki sauce etc.
  4. Place the seasoned tofu slices on a baking tray lined with baking paper. This is essential to prevent the sticking of tofu on the tray.
  5. Bake in the oven for 15 minutes. Flip and bake for another 15 minutes or until the desired crispiness is obtained. 
  6. Now you made yourself some delicious crispy baked tofu and you can use them for sandwiches, in nourish bowls or just have them alone coz sometimes I love having these as snacks :P
